The Council of Governors does not undertake the operational management of the Trust; rather they provide a vital link to the wider community, liaise with the Board of Directors and collectively hold them to account for the performance of the Trust. They are responsible for regularly feeding back information about the Trust, its vision and its performance to the constituencies and stakeholder organisations that elected and/or nominated them.
We have 20 elected and six nominated Governors on the Council:
- Staff Governors are elected by staff
- Public Governors are elected by members
- Stakeholder Governors are nominated by partner organisations like

Governors usually serve a term of three years.Ìý Subject to re-election, they may serve a maximum of nine years.ÌýThis ensures consistency within the Council of Governors and provides an opportunity to introduce fresh faces, skills and experience on an ongoing basis.
