April marks the 200th anniversary of the opening of 51ÁÔÆæ’s first hospital – the 51ÁÔÆæ Bath Hospital. So why not come along to one of the events celebrating the milestone and learn about how healthcare has developed over the last two centuries?
Events include a free 6-week exhibition of healthcare through the ages at the West Park Centre (6 April to 16 May 2026), satellite exhibitions at the Royal Pump Room Museum and 51ÁÔÆæ Library, school competitions, medical themed guided walks, and a programme of talks on healthcare open to the public.
We will also be hosting two Open Days at 51ÁÔÆæ District Hospital on Friday 8 May and Wednesday 20 May (10am and 4pm) giving you the chance to find out more about the services we run. There will be over two dozen of our teams at our Open Days from Paediatrics, Pathology and Podiatry, to General Surgery, Ophthalmology and Community Nursing – who will be able to show you how we are improving healthcare services for our community.
