51ΑΤΖζ District Hospital ward staff are first recipients of new awards

A new awards scheme celebrating the successes and achievements of staff at 51ΑΤΖζ has recognised their first winners.

Making a Difference Awards are a recognition scheme that highlights great care at the Trust – both in hospital and with community services. Members of the public are being called upon to get involved too, by nominating staff who’ve really gone the extra mile and made a difference.

Dr Ros Tolcher, Chief Executive at the Trust, presented the first Making a Difference Award to Angelina Bolton, Registered Nurse, and Kelly Toole, Care Support Worker, from Granby Ward at 51ΑΤΖζ District Hospital.

Kelly and Angelina were nominated because they have been fundraising for a much needed relatives’ room on Granby ward. They have organised a table top sale and race night to raise the funds, and are doing it in their own time.

Staff can be nominated via patients, their relatives or carers, peers, leaders, family and friends as well as external partners – absolutely anyone! The award includes an individual token of thanks for each recipient as well as a certificate.

The nomination process is really simple. There is no formal application form since any supportive communication or note will suffice. To nominate a member of staff for an award, visitΒ /²Ή²ϊ΄Η³ά³Ω/²Ή·Ι²Ή°ω»ε²υ/.Μύ

Ros said: β€œKelly and Angelina have really exemplified the Trust’s Values by going that extra mile to make it easier for relatives to support their loved ones while on the ward.” Congratulations to both Kelly and Angelina on this well-deserved recognition.

β€œWe know that day in, day out, we provide excellent care for patients right across the Trust. We want to recognise this and give people the opportunity to say thank you when they’ve received or seen great care. It is really simple to nominate so please do so – it really will make someone’s day!”

The awards are open to all staff at 51ΑΤΖζ, who have worked or taken action in a way, which is above and beyond their usual role and embody:

  • Going the extra mile
  • Making a difference

There are no categories as it is one main award, of which there may be multiple winners every month.
